I always thought I wanted to be a singer, but this actor gig might be better.

Are you enjoying your life here? With the chickens?

I am. It's not as glamorous as yours but I like it.

I'm just a simple guy with simple pleasures I guess. I want a safe, happy home and someone to share it with. I want to do something meaningful that helps people, even if it's small. I want a few, good friends I can trust with my life and time to read and learn about anything that grabs me. Everything else is just bonus.

You know Chuck and I just had our one year anniversary?

I really like it here. I could have a life, you know? A future. Put down roots and finally belong somewhere.

As long as you like it!!! That's great, Raleigh! I'm so happy for you two. You both deserve it, and I'm happy that you're so happy together.

A whole year!!! I can't believe you only got together right before I met you. It feels like you two have been together forever.

I feel the same way, honestly. Back home, I don't know how long it would have taken for my life to be my own, and even then, I don't know if I could actually have done what I want to do. The curse of fame, I suppose. You understand that.

But here? Here, I can do what I want, with who I want. I can live with Mako and not have to keep it a secret. I have you and Chuck and so many other amazing friends. If you can ignore the potential death and torture, it really is ideal!

I think it's just a different way of approaching life. The rules of our home worlds don't apply anymore. We don't even have the same bodies. So sure, this world is dangerous and can be awful but we're built to endure it. More than that, I think we're built to thrive.

We can be whoever we choose to be. The only thing we owe is happiness to ourselves and our people.

Look at how much we've grown. At how much you've grown? Like you said before, we are so different from who we were when all this started and I like who we are now. I'm proud of it. I'm proud of you for who you are and every amazing thing you've accomplished.

We've been robbed of so much back home and have every opportunity to make up for it here, come Hell or high water. Remember, when things get tough or hurt, it's only temporary. Just let it flow through you, don't latch on. We're going to be okay.

[ Wu doesn't know the last time that someone said something that kind to him. He doesn't know what to do with it, but warmth blossoms in his chest and he smiles stupidly down at his Omni.

Yeah, this is why he's friends with Raleigh. Well, there are many reasons, but this is one of them. Even after everything they've been through together, Raleigh can say something that kind to him and he can make Wu feel special and supported ]

You know, you've grown too. Maybe in less obvious ways, because you weren't going to die at the first sign to danger, but you've really opened up. I'm really proud of you, too.

Despite everything here, we are free. We can be ourselves and do what we want, which is why I can run a theater and you can have a farm and we can still be friends! I could never have been friends with a farmer back home.

[ But... something else Raleigh says pings with Wu too, and he hesitates. Should he really derail this very kind and sweet conversation?
