My book taught me slang and phrases and that's about it, but that isn't what I meant. I meant where on the internet. Do you just look for them?

The only thing that came up when I typed in the word 'badgermole.' Apparently it's just 'mole'.

If you could take the animals from here back to our world, you'd be even more famous than your great grandfather and his bear.

My greatest regret is that I never got to meet Bosco.

It is strange that a badgermole looks a lot like the Earth badger and mole, as if they were combined...

That's true of something like 90% of our animals. At least the ones I know. Look:

But not all of them. Flying bison aren't two of the animals here, they're just flying bison.

It's so strange!

Perhaps our world has some connection to Earth, like we do to the Spirit world. I wonder if Earth animals became ours, or the other way around.

That's a pretty good theory, actually. It would explain how places like Deerington are possible. Maybe there was some overlap during the first Harmonic Convergence?

[royalfling]

Maybe... but wasn't that ten thousand years ago? How would that affect us now?

I don't know, Wu, I'm not a scientist. But it is a weird coincidence.

Honestly, it's just nice that at least you don't look at me like I fused with a spirit when I mention normal animals. I'm getting tired of explaining them over and over again.

Maybe you should make a little card explaining it. Hand them out when someone asks.

"Yes, the animals from my world are weird, no, I haven't heard of anything you're talking about. Stop asking."

You think that would work?

Why not try it! It'll at least get them to ask about something else.

You really don't like talking to people, do you?

Talking isn't so bad, Mako!

But if you need, I can talk to people for you. I enjoy it.

It's not that I can't talk to people, I just don't like explaining the same thing over and over again. I should just learn not to mention any of our animals.

Why do you like it?

Well, yes, but with each different person it's a new conversation! You can get something else out of it!

People are fascinating. I like knowing what they think. Well, I like knowing what most of them think. Some are just awful.

[arclightning]

Or you can have the same conversation over and over again and be trapped making small talk.

See, that's what I don't like. Most people are awful.

Mako, Mako, Mako... What am I going to do with you?

People are great! Well, some are awful. But on the whole, people are fascinating! Everyone has their own life and thoughts and ideas about stuff!

Anyway, that's not true. You just think that because you have your own thoughts and ideas about stuff, but most people are pretty much the same.

It is true!

You have your own life, and so do I, and so do all the Sleepers here! And so does Naga! Everyone has a different story. It's interesting, if you'd bother to stop and listen.

I don't think we're going to agree on this. Talking to people is exhausting. It's so easy to say the wrong thing.

[royalfling]

So that's it, huh? You don't want to make anyone angry.
