[ Mako's voice, urgent and sharp, echoes through the house. His head is spinning and his face is hot—everything he asked for at the summoning stones is clearly starting to work—but Raleigh found Sam and Raleigh was talking about burying him alive and Mako isn't sure he managed to convince his friend otherwise.
Now's their chance, except that he can't find Wu anywhere. Mako is half-jogging, sparking with nerves and energy and a sick kind of anticipation as he pushes himself up the private stairs, still calling Wu's name. ]
[ Wu startles up at the sound of his name and footsteps thundering toward the door. Fritter makes a little noise from where she was nestled next to him as he was watching some videos on his Fluid. ]
[ Mako's fingers are white-knuckled, braced on the doorframe as he tugs the door open. Raleigh's words keep running through his head: I found him.
He pauses for a second, staring at Wu and Fritter, lifting her tiny head. Mako could not tell him. He could go handle it himself, keep Wu out of danger.
But Wu asked him not to. And he'd said he'd defer to Wu, here. ]
Raleigh found Sam. The right Sam. He's heading to his apartment right now.
[ He sits up straighter, the words shooting through him.
Sam. Raleigh found Sam.
After last month, after seeing Raleigh's anger, fear shoots through him. Raleigh, angry, isn't something Wu wants, and Raleigh must still be angry if he's going after Sam ]
No. No! Mako, Raleigh's going to, he's going to hurt him.
[ Mako hesitates there, scanning Wu's face, taking in the alarm and fear and worry there.
All of Mako is a livewire right now. He can't make himself stay still, his other hand curling into his pocket and then out again. He wants to bolt for Raleigh, for that address, wants to pin Sam to something until he finds out what, exactly, made him do this. Here, in the real world, where Mako actually has some power.
[ Being asked makes some of the fear in him settle a little. Mako isn't going to run off and try to play the hero, try to get his revenge. He promised he didn't want that, but Wu isn't so sure he doesn't, somewhere deep in his heart.
What does he want to do? He doesn't want Sam to hurt anyone else. He wants closure. He wants Raleigh to not kill Sam on his behalf.
He pushes himself off the bed, absently petting Fritter. ]
Let's, let's go find Raleigh.
[ And Sam. Face him, in real life. He started to learn something, in the dream, started to understand. ]
[ Slowly, Mako lets out the breath he hadn't quite realized he was holding. Wu wants to do something about this. Wu isn't going to pin him here in the house and make him wait—good. All this adrenaline, sharp and cold, will actually go somewhere. His head is already spinning, working past the settling-in fog of Wu's deathflu. ]
Grab your weapon, the knuckles. We're probably going to need all the firepower we can get.
If he's still as powerful as he was, Raleigh might be in trouble. I told him not to do anything stupid, but.
[ Mako's face twists as he holds out a hand for Wu. ]
When does anyone ever listen to me when I say that?
[ Wu offers him just a flicker of a smile and starts to undress. ]
I'll be fast, I promise.
[ He says it before Mako can argue. If he's going to face Sam, he's going to be put together. He grabs his last remaining clean-ish suit from when he got here and pulls it on. Fritter watches sleepily from the bed. ]
You're staying here, baby. I don't want you getting hurt. And you neither, big guy.
[ Mako bites his tongue, watching Wu shrug into his jacket with the absurd thought that it's really just like it was at home, watching Wu put the final touches on an outfit so they can finally go out, except this time they're going to go save their friend from dying by the hand of the man who killed Wu.
Mako can't stop himself saying something, though. ]
You sure you want to risk getting blood on that? Thought it was silk.
[ Mako tells him, quiet. After a moment, he reaches out and straightens Wu's lapel for him, pulling his collar into place. When that's done, when Wu looks neat and ready, if nervous and still a bit sick, Mako offers him a thin smile and reaches out a hand for Wu again. He isn't sure if he's doing it for himself, or for Wu. ]

Mako? What's wrong?

It's his last suit.
But he needs it.
He shrugs a shoulder, buttoning up his jacket. If it gets ruined, it'll be worth it if they get out of this alive. ]
It is silk. You're learning.
[ It's sort of like his usual teasing, but it's a little flatter, tenser.
He stands up straight, and pushes his fingers through his hair, trying to get it into place. ]
